The Doctor of the Future

“The Doctor of the future will give no medicine, but will interest his patients in the care of the human frame, diet and the cause and prevention of disease.”

Thomas Edison

What does that mean?

It means that the day will come when people will realize that medicine has detrimental effects, and that medicine covers up the symptoms and pain rather than correct the cause of the problem.

The body’s lifeline is the brain and the nervous system which is protected by the spinal column—the human frame.  The spinal cord carries all the information that is being sent from your brain to the rest of your body.  Thus your spine is protecting the most important part of your body and of your life.  If the spine is compromised, so will your health and your life.

Diet is important because you need to give it the adequate nutrition it needs in order to function properly. The food you eat is the fuel source for the body.  If you put junk in, you will not get the performance you expect, just as you wouldn’t from a car.

Prevention– why wait for a problem to show up before you take care of your body?  Take care of yourself-if you lose your health, you lose everything and most of the time you can’t get it back to the peak that it was before.

Summer Fun

Summer beach love messageIn the summertime, everyone’s thoughts turn to the outdoors.  We want to get out in the sun and have some fun.  Some people do exercise outdoors, such as running, walking, and biking, all year long regardless of the weather.  For others, summer’s warmer temperatures make activity outside the house or the gym more inviting, and tennis courts,  basketball courts, soccer fields, and baseball diamonds become filled with younger and older athletes, all looking to bounce, hit, or kick a ball around with their friends and opponents.  Summer sports provide substantial personal satisfaction as well as health and wellness benefits.  Any exercise, after all, is good exercise.  Bet exercise needs to be done in context.  For example, if you haven’t done any type of exercise  since last summer, attempting to play three sets of  tennis your first time on the court will likely lead to trouble, specifically, a strained muscle, sprained ligament, or worse.  Similarly, trying to run up and down a basketball court trying to leap to snag a sharp line drive during a baseball game may cause an immediate problem if you are out of condition.

The best course of action is to re-engage in summer sports slowly, a little at a time.  Even better, of course, is to participate in a consistent program of regular vigorous exercise throughout the year.  Federal and healthcare professional guidelines recommend doing at least 30 minutes of vigorous exercise five days a week.  Engaging in an ideal program of cardiovascular exercise, strength training, and core exercise on a weekly basis provides a level of fitness that supports all types of summer sports.

Regular chiropractic care supports all of your exercise and sporting activities, in addition to strengthening your immune system and optimizing the function of your nerve system, your body’s master system.  By detecting, analyzing and correcting spinal misalignments and other sources of nerve irritation, regular chiropractic care helps ensure that you and your family will enjoy a summer filled with enjoyable activities.  As well, regular chiropractic care helps ensure long-term health and wellness for you and your family throughout the year.

Innate In A Cup

SONY DSCScoop up a cup of water from the ocean and in that vessel you’ll have some ocean – not the actual ocean, but a part of the ocean, composed of the same physical, chemical and substantive properties. The same can be said for the intelligent force of Life within us and its relationship to a greater force that governs the cosmos.

The innate intelligence or ‘organizing wisdom’ within you is part of a greater intelligence that holds the entire universe in organized existence… you being the vessel in which it expresses itself. Your innate intelligence may not be THE entire intelligence of the universe, but instead a part of it… limited only by the matter through which it manifests. And this intelligent, inner power which holds YOU together has one purpose – to sustain your existence on the planet.

So think about it. If you INDEED possess a portion of the same intelligence that gives stars their glow, planets their orbit and flowers their scent, why would you put your faith in an inanimate pill or potion to manage your health? Maybe because you don’t realize the Power you have in your ‘tea cup.’ The most important job we have as Chiropractors, is to show you what you are innately made of – and to teach you how to safeguard it. Do you trust the power you have within to heal you?

Have questions or want to learn more about chiropractic and your nervous system? Just give us a call and we’ll be happy to schedule a phone consultation with one of our doctors, or schedule you to come to the office for a complete consultation and exam.

Chiropractic Jenga

Chiropractic Jenga

If Life was a game of Jenga, stress would be the act of sliding out one puzzle piece after another, until your entire ‘tower of health’ topples over.

Unexpected car repair bill – slide out a block. Emergency call from your kid’s school nurse – slide out another one. Slip end over end on a sheet of black ice – slide out three more. Before you know it, you’re one stress event away from major Jenga catastrophe… that is, unless your Chiropractor reverses the momentum and adjusts those loose blocks back in, restoring stability and integrity to your health.

Stress can cause you to Subluxate (misalign), and its effects are detrimental to your overall health. So don’t wait until until your last Jenga stress block is pulled before seeking help. It’s far easier to keep your body standing strong with preventative Chiropractic care, than to rebuild it after the collapse.

A Chiropractic Message

I am a Chiropractor.

I look toward the spine for the cause of Dis-ease.

I acknowledge the body’s inborn ability to heal itself.

I understand that our nervous system transmits the life force to all our body tissues.

I approach the body, mind, and spirit as a whole.

I apply a force to the body, called a chiropractic adjustment, that the body uses with the intent to remove nerve interference, which encourages the body to express itself to its fullest potential.

I am a teacher of life to my practice members, yet never claim to be a healer.

I am scientifically educated, yet never claim to be smarter than the body that our Creator has made.

I can influence all diseases with the chiropractic adjustment, yet never claim to treat them.

I believe in miracles and in the power that creates them.

I believe in the hope of restoring life.

I am a Chiropractor.

Torque Release Technique

brain body communicationSpinal Subluxations can best be described as specific sites of spinal malfunction leading to irritation of the body’s central computer, the nervous system. The end result of this is separation from wholeness and an inability to experience well-being.

If the innate intelligence through the nerve system is allowed to express itself without interference (free of subluxations), the person can express full potential. If the nerve system “feels good”, then usually the rest of the body “works well”.

Research published in one of the most respected psychiatry journals showed dramatically increased success in reducing anxiety and depression levels, and improved measurements of well-being, when Torque Release Technique (“TRT”) Chiropractic Adjustments were received.

TRT is the most up-to-date chiropractic technique available. It has been designed as part of scientific research into the health benefits of chiropractic. As such it is a mixture of the ”best-of-the-best” systems of chiropractic assessment and care.

TRT helps to locate and reduce Subluxations.

What is involved with a TRT Adjustment?

Your Chiropractor will be checking your spinal column for areas where the nerve system is being damaged and interfered with by Subluxations and will deliver an adjustment using the Integrator instrument.

The Integrator reproduces what the hands were intended to do with much more specificity and less force than ever possible by hand. The advantage of the Integrator is that it can deliver a specific frequency to the segment of the spine where a subluxation has been detected.

A “jump start” for your body’s “electrical system”.

As such, this is not so much a technique to manually stretch or realign your body. It is a technique to stimulate your nerve system in such a way that it will assist your body to self-heal and allow your body to return to a state of better balance and well-being.

A Chiropractor’s Education

 Instructor with students in classroom

In many ways, the education today’s chiropractic doctor receives is comparable to what a medical practitioner receives.

These days, the education that a chiropractor receives is quite similar to what medical practitioners receive.

In fact, a recent study says that chiropractic and medical curricula are “more similar than dissimilar.” Some chiropractic colleges require a Bachelor’s degree before enrollment. A doctor of chiropractic’s training generally requires a minimum of five years of college study.

Obviously, medical doctors receive additional training in pharmacology and surgery, whereas chiropractors focus more on physiology, pathology and spinal adjusting techniques.

After passing board examinations and state licensing requirements, today’s chiropractor, like all types of doctors, must attend continuing education classes for relicensure and to stay current on the latest scientific research.
