When You Stop Feeling

Awareness is essential to the healing process. When you get hurt, it’s the role of the nerve system to sense the damage and inform your brain (pain) so the healing can start. Masking the ‘awareness’ step creates problems.

Unfortunately, in an effort to create perpetual comfort, drug companies have become very good at desensitizing people to their own physical and emotional pain alarm systems – and apparently those around them as well. According to a recent study by Ohio State University, when you take something as simple as acetaminophen (Tylenol) to reduce your pain, you may also be decreasing your empathy for both the physical and social suffering of others as well. So much for the old saying “…I feel your pain.”

While the medical profession and its pharmaceutical cousins strive to numb you, Chiropractors remove tension in your nervous system so you can fully experience your environment and respond to whatever life throws at you, both good and bad. No one likes to feel pain or discomfort, but we need to recognize it as the body’s attempt to save itself. When you stop feeling, you stop healing – not only yourself, but potentially everyone around you.

Tomato Paste Found to Function as Internal Sunscreen

Tomato Paste Found to Function as Internal Sunscreen, Blocking UV Rays and Protecting Skin Health

by David Gutierrez, staff writer for NaturalNews

TomatoesFoods rich in cooked tomatoes may boost your body’s ability to ward off skin damage from the sun’s ultraviolet (UV) rays and stave off the effects of aging, according to a study conducted by researchers from the universities of Manchester and Newcastle, England, and presented to the British Society for Investigative Dermatology.

Researchers believe that the protective benefit observed came from an antioxidant that naturally occurs in tomatoes, known as lycopene. Because lycopene in raw tomatoes is bound in a form that is difficult for the body to use, cooking dramatically increases the bioavailability of the chemical. This is why the researchers used tomato paste for the study.

The scientists believe that lycopene neutralizes free radicals that are formed when UV radiation strikes the skin. These free radicals have been linked to cancer and the effects of aging.

The researchers warned that the sun protection acquired from the tomatoes was equivalent only to that provided by a low-grade sunscreen and should be used as a “helpful addition,” rather than a replacement.

Memorial Day is Upon Us…How Do You Travel??

Memorial Day is now here! There will be more people traveling on the roads this year since 2005, according to current polls. Also, it is the first nice weekend we have had in a very long time. How will you fair during this busy travelling season? Most of us will be meeting family or friends during this holiday to grill outside or to take this time to decompress from the hustle and bustle of everyday activities and schedules.

How will your body handle the trips to and from your choice of venue? Will it be an easy transition, or will it be challenging without pillows, supports, liniments, rubs, braces, or wraps? Or even worse, you wouldn’t be able to function without taking over-the-counter medications that are designed to mask the problem. As health professionals, this tell us that you have a health issue that has been developing over time and you have a serious problem. We can help.

Obviously, it makes sense to take care of these issues prior to engaging on a long trip. Most people would agree. But, most people are not even aware that there is another way to take care of their health. Your brain and body work as a whole functioning system and not in parts. That is what makes chiropractic shine and is unique and distinct. So if you hear friends or family talking about how hard the trip was, or the difficulties that they are having with their health, mention chiropractic.  A vitalistic chiropractor may be the best option for them, especially if they want to heal naturally and quickly from the inside out. A lot of serious issues can be avoided by being proactive with your health.

If you have any friends or family that have served or are serving in our Armed Forces. Please pass along our “Thank you for protecting our Freedom.”, and if they are having health issues, we have your back.

A Journey Starts With The First Step

A journey starts with the first step…

1st stepSome of you have just started chiropractic care for the first time in your life.  Let us commend you for your decision to take your life back into your own hands and for taking responsibility for your life and health!

For those that continue to have their spine checked for vertebral subluxations we commend you also. You have seen the results and the positive changes chiropractic has made in your life.  You also understand the devastating effects of the vertebral subluxation.

The first step is never easy.  Making decisions such as starting chiropractic care or for continuing care of your spine, are never easy.  That is why we take the time to educate you on health and chiropractic so that you can make better decisions about your health.

You have made a commitment and have taken responsibility for your life.  Yes, spinal care is a continuous process because we are constantly exposed to factors that will cause vertebral subluxations and thus reduce our life potential.

Chiropractic care is an investment in YOU. You have invested your time and you have invested financially.  But remember if you don’t have your health, you have nothing.   And if you can’t enjoy your life because of restrictions your health has placed onto it, life is enjoyed less.

Chiropractic is a journey, down the road to better health!

Squat Like A Toddler

Toddler SquattingIf you ever want to observe perfect biomechanics, watch a toddler pick up a toy from the floor.  You’ll never see them bending over, moaning in agony like an old man.  They drop their hips, maintain a perfect center of gravity while lowering themselves, then pop right back up with the ease of an Olympic lifter.

Interestingly enough, they never attended an ‘ergonomics’ class to acquire such perfect form.  Their little bodies are innately designed to do it – and at one time in your life, your body worked like that too.  You were able to lift, bend, sit, walk, run, sleep and with perfect, innate biomechanics.  But somewhere along the way, your body picked up bad habits and compensated movements that now create pain and physical limitations in your daily Life.

If PAIN is your body forgetting how to line up and move the way it was originally designed to, HEALTH is the return to the original blueprint.  If you want to get your Life back, remind your body how it was meant to function.  Sounds like the perfect job for a Chiropractor.

Is This In-Dependence?

Pill-FlagIn a recent Mayo Clinic study, researchers determined that nearly 70 percent of Americans are on at least one prescription drug, and more than half receive at least two prescriptions. Twenty percent of U.S. patients were also found to be on five or more prescription medications. When it comes to health, Americans aren’t as free as we think we are.

Chiropractors believe true freedom comes from IN-Dependence – relying on the Power that made you, to heal you and keep you well. IN-Dependent Chiropractic patients know they innately possess what it takes to heal. They trust in the wisdom of their bodies to handle what ails them instead of running to the medicine cabinet for every cough or sniffle. They‘re the 30% who would rather give Mother Nature the chance to do her job, than usurp her role with drug intervention.

Big Pharma won’t stop advertising and pushing their products until we’re 100% dependent on them. This Fourth of July when you’re celebrating our country’s freedom, take a moment to reflect on your body’s freedom as well. Are you truly as IN-dependent as you want to be?
