When You Stop Feeling

numb-it-all-pills

Awareness is essential to the healing process. When you get hurt, it’s the role of the nerve system to sense the damage and inform your brain (pain) so the healing can start. Masking the ‘awareness’ step creates problems.

Unfortunately, in an effort to create perpetual comfort, drug companies have become very good at desensitizing people to their own physical and emotional pain alarm systems – and apparently those around them as well. According to a recent study by Ohio State University, when you take something as simple as acetaminophen (Tylenol) to reduce your pain, you may also be decreasing your empathy for both the physical and social suffering of others as well. So much for the old saying “…I feel your pain.”

While the medical profession and its pharmaceutical cousins strive to numb you, Chiropractors remove tension in your nervous system so you can fully experience your environment and respond to whatever life throws at you, both good and bad. No one likes to feel pain or discomfort, but we need to recognize it as the body’s attempt to save itself. When you stop feeling, you stop healing – not only yourself, but potentially everyone around you.

4 Key Areas of Growth – Taking Care of You

thrivetakecareofyourself-copy

Re blogged from The seeds 4 Life

In the everyday motions of life, sometimes we forget to stop and take a moment. To breathe. To embrace this moment and life right now.

Yes, there will be days when everything seems urgent. Where never-ending to-do lists and deadlines just keep stacking against us – In those times, we get so caught up in burning the candle at both ends that we forget to look after ourselves.

As I always say to my best friend, work/university/career are important, but it doesn’t matter how many accolades we achieve if it ultimately means putting our health on the back burner. We are only human and we need to eat, sleep, and recharge. We need to look after our inner health circle to have the energy and mentality to achieve the great things we have planned.

Over the past few weeks, I have found this to be profoundly true. After falling prone to hay fever blues, I realized that being able to breathe every day is truly a blessed and lucky thing. People say it’s the little things that matter and now I finally know why. Because without them, we can’t do big and great things.

The secret to leading a happy and fulfilled life is being healthy…

1. Physically

Every day if you’re able to roll out of bed and breathe, walk, talk and think – you are already immensely blessed.  First thing in the morning, keep yourself in top-notch condition, either indoors or out. Though I’m more partial to the great outdoors – walking, jogging, running and skipping away to paradise – whatever works for you, just keep those hearts beating health! Plus, those happy hormones (endorphins) are always a good thing. A smile always makes your day, and if not yours – definitely someone else’s.

2. Mentally

In this constant touch and go world, sometimes we forget to reward ourselves with downtime. Let’s make it a weekend mantra to reconnect with our first hobby loves. Whether it’s creating art by painting, photography, blogging, writing, song writing, or singing to just chilling with a novel or a movie to just listening to records you like – you deserve to! After all, we all need healthy outlets to vent out life’s downs. A healthy head space leads to a clutter free mind.

3. Socially

There’s a reason why human beings are social creatures. After all, there are so many of us; so it makes sense to engage and connect with one another. That’s what friends and family are for.

It doesn’t matter how introverted or extroverted or even how busy we are, we will always need a support network to fall back on. Even when we think we might not need it. Besides keeping us afloat, life is always better with company. In both the ups and downs and everything in between.

4. Spiritually

Hello good mornings! The best way to start the day is to have peace and quiet for 10 minutes. P&Q 10 as I call it. No notifications. No beeps. No Wi-Fi.

Just 10 minutes of P&Q – meditating with calming music, prayer or even just yoga deep breathing.

It centers us to have inner peace. Which transcends into less daunting thoughts and plans. They no longer seem unattainable. They become possible. A calm mind can do wonders.

5. Adjustments

Be sure to keep your regularly scheduled Chiropractic Adjustment(s) for optimal health!

Today, let’s make our good health our top priority.

After all, without good health, we wouldn’t be able to soldier on and do amazing and incredible things! Make the change today for a happier and healthier you.

Health Truly Is How Well The Body Functions

Health

By now we realize that we can not measure our health by how we feel. It is possible for an unhealthy person to feel “good” and it is also possible for a healthy person to feel “bad.” If we can not measure our health by how we feel, how do we know if we are healthy? The best way to know we are healthy is by doing those things that are necessary to keep the body functioning properly. Health truly is how well the body functions. If the body is functioning properly it is able to fight and resist diseases better, recover from illness better and in general, do EVERYTHING better. Only if the body is functioning poorly, when there is a lack of health, can sickness and disease be present. Of course, the complete lack of or absence of function is death.

As you can see we must do as many things as possible to ensure our health, and our families health, regardless of how we feel. If our goal was to reach a certain weight, we would be conscious of what we eat, and of course we would exercise. Once we reach our desired weight, we would continue to eat properly and maintain an exercise program. If we did not what would happen?

Chiropractic directly improves function therefore improves health.

The same can be said of our health. Just like our weight, our health is directly related to what we do. To ensure the best health for you and your family, you must get the proper amount of rest, exercise and nutrition. One important factor that is often overlooked is chiropractic. By correcting vertebral subluxations, chiropractic directly improves function therefore improving health (health = how well your body works). It is important to recognize the fact that when health (function) is partially lost, symptoms may not develop for days, weeks, months, years or never at all. If the heart lost 25% of its ability to function it might be years before the first chest pain or high blood pressure occurred, all the while damage was being done. If the heart gradually lost its function over time, due to a vertebral subluxation or another cause, the first symptom could be a fatal heart attack.

Healing With The Brakes On

Automotive Brake and Gas Pedal

Have you ever felt like you’re spinning your wheels when it comes to staying healthy? You eat right, exercise five days a week and try to get enough sleep – you’ve got the ‘pedal to the metal’ when it comes to staying fit, but something’s holding you back. Maybe it’s time to pay more attention to your Nerve System.

Although you’ve got one foot on the gas, Subluxations can put the brakes on your progress. Subluxations are troublesome misalignments in your spine that irritate your Nerve System and rob you of potential health energy. The effect is like trying to drive with your brakes on.  You’ve got your fitness throttle wide open, but you’re going nowhere fast.

If you want to stop spinning your wheels when it comes to your health, prioritize your spinal care. When it comes to unleashing more health horse power, nothing releases the brake like Chiropractic can.
