Subluxations Start At Birth

Dr. Godfrey Gutmann, a German physician, conducted a study of over 1,000 newborns shortly after birth.  He discovered that over 80% of the infants had suffered trauma to their cervical spine, which resulted in vertebral subluxations.

Our Philosophy

Our Philosophy

male-nervous-system-artwork-168837900-578117135f9b5831b57baa42Traditional chiropractors such as ourselves recognize the inherent ability of living organisms to maintain themselves in health and to repair themselves when damaged. This inherent ability or inborn wisdom within the body is called Innate Intelligence.

We recognize that harmony within the body is a normal state. Harmony of all the body’s organs, tissues and cells is called HEALTH. An absence of health is an unnatural state which is called DIS-EASE or lack of normal body function. Traditional chiropractors are not involved in treating disease or covering up symptoms, but in restoring health.

The inborn intelligence or life force exists within each of us. It is the intelligence that gives you the ability to adapt to your internal and external environment. The main organs used by this innate intelligence is the brain and nervous system.

Nothing in your body will work unless the brain and nervous system tells it what to do. If there is an interference to this operating and functioning system, it will leave the body in a state of malfunction and disharmony because the body is not receiving the proper signals it needs to work properly.

Vertebral subluxations are the major interference to this functioning system and thus will cause the body to develop weaknesses, body breakdown and poor health.

Chiropractic is the science, art and philosophy of the location, analysis and correction of vertebral subluxations.

Health on a Budget

Like losing anything, recovering your health will require an investment of your time and money.

You’ve heard the adage, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. That’s why each of us in the office gets checked or adjusted on a regular basis. Even when we’re feeling great.

Early Detection

Uncovering pre-symptomatic vertebral subluxations is like detecting pre-symptomatic tooth decay. Regular chiropractic checkups save time and money by identifying little problems before they become more serious.

Beyond maintenance and prevention, wellness care helps us become all that we can be. This proactive approach to health produces the greatest benefits of all. Those who avail themselves of wellness care rarely get a cold, the flu or the “bugs that seem to be going around.”  The reason for this is that the nerve system is free of interference and allows the body to heal and function the way it is intended.

Calm Down!

A calm person is far more likely to heal quicker and respond faster than a hysterical one with similar health problems.  Calmness accelerates healing and recovery time. In fact, calmness not only governs healing, it is a prime determinant of “Quality of Life.”

While inflammation, pain and edema can be described as noise in the cellular matrix of the body, fear, worry and irritation would be noise in the nerve system. These noises interfere with our lives, exhaust us, and wear down our resistance to disease, making us more susceptible to colds and flu, impeding recovery.

When our bodies are quiet, they are capable of amazing things. Calming this “noise” or stress in the nerve system is probably the single most important factor in increasing the body’s ability to heal itself and in increasing quality of life. When our nerve system is quiet we are able to think more clearly, concentrate better and adapt to the environment at a much higher level.

A chiropractic adjustment is the quickest and most effective way to calm the nerve system and improve healing. Since the nerve system is the chief means of communication in the body, noise can interfere with nerve flow and lead to health problems. Doctors of chiropractic specialize in calming the nerve system by restoring vital communication within the body by delivering a chiropractic adjustment to correct vertebral subluxations.

The Dow Jones Of Healing

The Dow Jones of HealingHealing is like the stock market. It never progresses in a straight line. You’ve got to expect some ups and downs along the way.

You might experience a surge of relief when you first start your Chiropractic care only to be followed by a setback. Soon you’re back on track, seeing huge improvements. Progress continues with bouts of highs and lows, and you may even experience a plateau or dip in your improvements. But don’t make the mistake of ‘pulling out of the market’ early.

Keep the big picture in mind. Like stocks, the gains in Chiropractic care are best seen over time. When you look back and see how far you’ve come since your first visit, you’ll realize the LIFE dividends are paying off.

Cement Spines!

The longer you wait between adjustments, the more vertebral Subluxations have a chance to 'set up' and the harder they are to correct

You know you’ve waited too long in between adjustments when your body becomes abnormally stiff and tight.

You know you’ve waited too long in between adjustments when your body becomes abnormally stiff and tight. Getting out of bed in the morning has become a major chore, standing up from a chair seems to take a millennium to accomplish. Sometimes it feels as if you just swallowed a bag of quikrete – and it’s beginning to set up permanently in your spine.

One of the dangers of losing flexibility in your spine is its negative effect on your Nerve System. Studies have shown a direct link to loss of segmental motion in the spine and a phenomena called Sympathetic Dominance – a condition where the ‘fight or flight’ response of your Nerve System becomes over active, leading to altered internal organ function, chronic fatigue and even possible death (the ultimate state of rigidity).

The longer you wait between adjustments, the more vertebral Subluxations have a chance to ‘set up’ and the harder they are to correct. Don’t wait for chronic symptoms of fixation to manifest. Get checked and adjusted on a regular basis to keep your spine loose and your Life energy flowing abundantly.

What Exactly is a Vertebral Subluxation?

subluxation2It goes by different names: Subluxation, Vertebral Subluxation, Vertebral Subluxation Complex or simply Nerve Interference. Regardless of its name, it’s probably new to you. Turns out, chiropractors are the only licensed professionals who know how to detect and reduce it. But what exactly is it?

Vertebral Subluxations occur when spinal vertebrae lose their normal motion or position. This can irritate nearby nerves that pass out from the spinal column to organs and tissues of your body.

Because nerves carry messages between your brain and your body, controlling and regulating everything, vertebral subluxations are very important!

There are three main causes:

  • Physical causes, such as a car accident, a slip or fall, a sports injury, repetitive movements, improper lifting, inadequate sleep and bad posture.
  • Emotional causes, such as grief over the death of a loved one, anger and other negative emotions that affect muscle tone can produce a burden on your body.
  • Chemical causes, that may result from poor nutrition, smoking, alcohol and substance abuse and toxins in your external environment, food and water.

Chiropractors receive special training to adjust the spine, which is designed to help reduce the nerve interference and allow the body to function more normally. Longstanding vertebral subluxations can produce unhelpful muscle patterns that may require a series of frequent visits to strengthen and retrain.

The biggest problem with vertebral subluxations is the fact that you often don’t even know that you have them!

Regular chiropractic checkups, even without obvious symptoms, can keep your nervous system in tip-top working order; much the same as receiving regular dental care keeps your teeth and gums healthy. If you have any questions about vertebral subluxations or the effects that they can have on your health, please be sure to ask at your next visit.
